Laundry Room To End All Laundry Rooms

This mom of young twin boys needed a functional laundry and drop off area when entering their home from the garage. The original laundry room did not have a designated drop off zone, which meant everything ended up on the floor. She also wanted a space to fold laundry and store additional home goods.
To create the new space, the wall between the existing laundry room and an underutilized spare bedroom was removed. A new drop zone made from Alder with a bench and cubbies was built, so the boys had a place for their things.

A Potent Row Of Household Appliances.

New Alder cabinetry in an espresso finish provides additional overhead storage. A Kohler apron sink with a decorative pendant light allow for easy clean up, while a built in marble folding counter gives easy transition from the washer/dryer units. A backsplash made from 4x8 subway tile, bar tiles and decorative flower tile, accent the walls and blends well with the new porcelain tile floor. And next to the drop zone is a new storage/utility closet. Additional features of the room include a wider opening in the area, additional counter space and cabinets, and a door that leads to the back yard.

Now this busy family can enter their home and easily unpack the day in their new laundry area.

Dark cabinets create a handsome, high contrast aesthetic view.

Storage cubbies are essential for keeping children's belongings organized.
