Wondering how to make a small room look bigger with a few simple tips? Try out these fool proof living room decorating ideas to create an illusion of space in a tiny room.

Small Living Room Lighting Design Ideas

Light is the most inexpensive way to integrate the feeling of space. Consequently, allowing natural light inside through large voluminous windows opens up the interior and makes it look larger. Hence, embellish the window sill with diminutive indoor plants and drape it with sheen curtains or light colored blinds, which allows the light in, but still provide the privacy during the day.

And in case if the space does not have an abundance of natural light, integrate some ingenious effects using light fixtures. Even this minute integration can make a big difference!

Floating Shelves, Wall Shelves And Wall Storage Units - Choose To Store In Style!

Decorate the walls or fill them all the way up, to draw the eye's attention towards the ceiling, to create a feeling of larger space. This can be done by painting the shelves the same color as the walls and by hanging tall artworks towards the ceiling, or hanging bookcases for storage that floats higher on the wall. The point is to raise the eye up to the ceiling to give the illusion of grandeur and depth.

On the other end, adding one elegant, customized media center with bookcase for artifacts, instead of multiple floating shelves or wall shelves can provide ample space for displaying artifacts and also free up the floor by avoiding of additional furniture and can make the room look voluminous.

Redecorate Or Dedecorate - Organizing Your Home

The first step that needs to be taken, while redesigning a small living room is to declutter. It is recommended to completely remove all stuffs such as books, artifacts, even furniture and plants and start all over again.

Start with the home furniture, as it is considered as the foundation of any small space. Be practical with the selection of furniture and opt for living room sets that can be used in multiple ways, add storage furniture like cabinets with doors, center table with possible storage solutions. Also make sure to keep the space clean, as a clutter free look helps in creating an illusion of space. For instance, make sure to not use the coffee table as a place to exhibit newspapers.

Additionally, before starting the purchase of anything new from furniture to an artifact, for a brand new look make sure to utilize the existing furniture in an organized manner first, because most of the time just removing excessive furniture is enough to complete the look!

Nesting Tables - A Space Saver Furniture

Living in a small space? Love to entertain? Then investing in a set of stylish nesting tables is something homeowners should consider. While designing a small space, preserving every inch of space becomes a necessity and with a few flexible decor additions, for instance like the stacking tables makes the job a lot easier!

This space saver furniture creates a chic look and at the same time can be utilized during large gatherings to hold drinks or for any other purposes. The best part is that, it can also be easily and neatly tucked away when not required. Moreover, one could easily exhibit artifacts, to team it up with the sofa or convert it to a lamp table.

From acting as an attractive center table to converting it to a stylish night stand, these nesting tables can do it all! In short, a surface is always available which can be arranged in multiple ways and played around seasonally.

The Focal Point - Small Living Room Ideas

The first thing one notices while entering any room, especially the living room must be an interesting one. Therefore, creating a great first impression with a focal point is absolutely an important step to be taken. Since the eyes tend to follow the lines in a room, the overall living room decor will usually revolve around the focal point.

Therefore, home dwellers could create an impact by adding a large, yet streamlined 3 Seater Sofa Design, sofa bed or an eye-catching small area rug and decorate the room around it. As doing so will create a focal point that gives the room character, which is mostly missing in small spaces.

In case, the living room lacks space, even for a sofa, the simplest way to create a focal point is to accentuate an existing, strong element within the space. For instance,
embellish a bay window or group of windows. Draw the attention of the onlookers with a decent view or create one by adorning the windows in several ways, to make it look alluring.

Great ideas Nora! What do you think if we add a mirror on a wall?

Wonderful idea, you may add mirror on one of the walls either near the entrance of the room or on the side wall of the room. If possible add mirror on the whole of one of the smaller wall. Hope this helps. Let me know once you are done with this project.
